Dr. Claudia Freigang

Dr Claudia Freigang is an entrepreneur and former hearing researcher driven to apply her background in academia and science to improve medical technologies. Originally from Germany, she's conducted research into hearing loss at internationally renowned research institutes in the UK, Germany, and Canada. Driven by her passion to make a tangible difference to the lives of individuals with hearing loss, Claudia co-founded Hearing Diagnostics Limited (HD) with Dr Colin Horne in 2017 in Edinburgh with the mission to make hearing care more accessible globally. HD's flagship product is a novel hearing test platform that enables reliable hearing testing to be conducted outside of hospitals by individuals untrained in audiology, thereby revolutionising the way the world tests for hearing loss. In her role as CEO, Claudia has been responsible for securing several grants as well as a seed investment round in 2020 with Scottish angel investors. Though the commercial side of the business keeps her on her toes, she makes sure she stays deeply involved with the scientific aspects of HD's technology.
